I am totally new to this poker thing, I know this might be the dumbest ? ever asked on this forem, please dont laugh. I just want to know how do these poker sites make money if you are not playing against the house but other players? They also give generous signup bonuses when you deposit. Please dont laugh, can someone please tell me what im missing?

I was looking at this last night. 7 card stud, 8 players. we're playing 40 hands an hour, avg pot 7.30....thats an avg rake of a buck a hand. at the end of an hour one guy was up maybe 20.00 ,2 down about 10.00 each and everyone else about the same .....BUT the house made 40.00 bucks....sooooo in theory if we all stayed there long enough EVEN though NONE of us won or lost any significant money.....WE WOULD ALL BE BROKE !!!

impossible for one guy to be up $20, two down $10 each and the rest the same but your point is well taken.....
